Marie Riquier is a Researcher in the SIPRI Sahel and West Africa Programme, focusing on peace and conflict dynamics as well as humanitarian assistance in the region, including in the Chad-Sudan borderlands. Current and previous work include a strong focus on food security and humanitarian interventions, particularly in South Sudan, where she analysed the complex interplay between food insecurity, peace and conflict. Additionally, she is involved in monitoring and evaluation, with an emphasis on assessing the peace impact of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding efforts. She has also participated in a World Food Programme Country Strategic Plan Evaluation.
Prior to joining SIPRI, Marie undertook an internship at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University where she focused on violent extremism, civil resistance and cultural heritage. Marie also interned at the Life & Peace Institute, an international peacebuilding organization which supports civil society in nonviolent conflict transformation.
