SIPRI hosts Japan–Europe–USA cybersecurity workshop
Participants at SIPRI's workshop discussed definitions and threats to critical infrastructure, case studies of cyber intrusions and attacks, as well as concrete ways forward on national, regional and international cooperation.

On 18 December 2017, SIPRI held a workshop entitled ‘Japan-Europe-USA: Integrating cybersecurity and norms into critical infrastructure.’ This event hosted 12 leading academic, official, technical and legal cybersecurity experts from Estonia, Japan, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as an audience of over 30 ambassadors, defence attachés, senior scientists, and industry experts to discuss definitions and threats to critical infrastructure, case studies of cyber intrusions and attacks, as well as concrete ways forward on national, regional and international cooperation.

Dr Lora Saalman, Associate Senior Fellow at SIPRI and Vice President for Asia-Pacific at the EastWest Institute moderated the workshop. This event and report have been made possible with the support of the Japanese Government. Findings from this workshop and a series of essays from participating experts will appear in an edited volume in the Spring of 2018.
