SIPRI is pleased to announce that it will join the Swedish Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to provide advice on issues such as food, peace and security. SIPRI will be represented by Dr Caroline Delgado, Director of the SIPRI Food, Peace and Security Programme.

The Swedish FAO Committee is tasked with assisting the Swedish government in its work on food security for all, while taking account of global development and the preservation of biodiversity within agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

Dr Delgado works on issues related to sustainable peace and the food–peace–security nexus. Her latest work has focused on the role of food systems for generating conditions conducive to peace in crisis-affected countries, including in Latin America, the Sahel and East Africa, among other, and how humanitarian, development and peacebuilding actors can work in a coordinated, coherent and complementary manner to support the transition out of fragility.
