Emmi is a communications intern at SIPRI, supporting the team’s work on outreach and dissemination. She comes from a background in sustainable development and policy analysis. She has previously worked as a policy analyst for the international development network WIEGO (Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing) and has served as a project advisor, volunteering with the biodiversity organization LumiVoce in Hong Kong.
Emmi holds a master’s degree in Russian and Eurasian studies from Uppsala University. Her main areas of interest are Russia’s energy weapon, Ukraine’s political economy, and the cultural relationship between Russia and China. Her thesis, Here Comes the Sun, examined Russia’s war on the Ukrainian energy sector and the EU’s preliminary plans for its reconstruction and reform.
