Swedish Parliament

SIPRI is honoured to be invited to launch SIPRI Yearbook 2026 at the Swedish Parliament on 9 June 2026 to celebrate SIPRI’s 60th anniversary. As part of the launch, the Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold an open meeting.

The meeting, which takes place in the former First Chamber, will begin with opening remarks from the Chair of the Committee, Aron Emilsson (SD). The Speaker of the Parliament, Andreas Norlén, and the Chair of the SIPRI Governing Board, Stefan Löfven, will each deliver an address. SIPRI experts Dr Sibylle Bauer, Dr Vincent Boulanin and Nivedita Raju will join SIPRI Director Karim Haggag to discuss nuclear arms control, military uses of artificial intelligence and the centrality of the space domain to contemporary warfare.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the presentations. Pre‑submitted questions from members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs will be given priority, followed by questions from other participants as time allows. Morgan Johansson (S), Vice Chair of the Committee, will provide concluding remarks.

The meeting will be held in English and will be livestreamed. Light refreshments will be available from 12.30.
