About the course
The four-day online course aims to bridge the gap between scientific and technical education and the policy, legal and institutional dimensions of arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament. The course is designed for graduate and postgraduate students in disciplines including natural sciences, engineering and technology, as well as early-career professionals with relevant technical backgrounds.
Participants will examine the scientific and technical foundations of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, alongside the international treaties, institutions and mechanisms for verification and compliance that govern them. The course will also explore how artificial intelligence, biotechnology, outer space capabilities and autonomous systems interact to create emerging WMD-related risks. Sessions will cover export controls and other practical non-proliferation tools, as well as career pathways in arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament.
Approximately 20 participants will be selected. Applicants of all nationalities are welcome.
