The newly released Annual Review 2025 outlines SIPRI’s achievements across its core research areas during the year.

In a year marked by continued geopolitical tensions, rising military spending and ongoing conflicts, SIPRI continued to deliver on its mission by providing data, evidence-based policy analysis and forums for dialogue aimed at supporting international peace and security.

Annual Review 2025 highlights SIPRI’s work across a range of themes and topics, including European security, developments in conflict and peace operations, global rearmament, the security implications of emerging technologies, and climate-related security risks. It presents activities spanning publications, commentaries, events and engagement with policymakers and practitioners.

Among other areas, the review also outlines SIPRI’s expanding global reach and impact. In 2025, SIPRI research featured in over 79 000 news articles worldwide, marking a record level of media coverage. Major data launches attracted extensive international attention, with coverage from more than 5585 media outlets for the March arms transfers release, over 7800 for the April military expenditure data, more than 8520 for the June launch of SIPRI Yearbook 2025, and over 7315 for the December arms industry data.
