Exploring AI’s role in peacebuilding and development in West Africa

On 11 September, SIPRI co-hosted a virtual event examining the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in humanitarian and development efforts across West Africa. The event was held in both English and French. See below for details and registration information.

The event was conducted as part of SIPRI’s ongoing work in the Research & Action for Peace (REcAP) Network. It was hosted with SIPRI’s consortium partners: the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP).

The event aimed to foster dialogue on the role of AI in early warning systems, conflict prevention and climate security, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected settings.

The presentations were followed by a 30-minute Q&A session, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.
