On 20 October SIPRI and the Korean Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Seoul, South Korea.

The MoU was signed by SIPRI Director Ian Anthony. Dr Aude Fleurant, Director of the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure Programme, represented SIPRI at the signing ceremony, which was held in the presence of the KIET President, Dr Kim Do-hoon and the Director of the Defence Industry branch, Dr Jang.

The MoU will enable greater cooperation between SIPRI and KIET on arms industry issues, with specific coverage of North Asia and the Asia–Pacific region.

Dr Fleurant also presented the opening keynote address at a conference jointly hosted by KIET and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on the main trends shaping the global military political economy.
