Oliver is a Research Assistant in the SIPRI Food, Peace and Security Programme. Before joining SIPRI, Oliver worked in various managerial, research, and advisory roles for humanitarian organizations and research institutes. He is interested in bridging the research-practice gap and has mainly worked on studying the link between violent conflict, food systems, resilience, and the prospects for peace across several Sub-Saharan African countries and cross-border areas.
Oliver has previously managed projects on food systems resilience assessment, co-designed approaches to assessing the risk of excess mortality, and managed data collection teams in hard-to-reach areas in South Sudan and Ethiopia. Oliver is also a certified Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analyst (level 1) and has contributed to multiple IPC analyses in South Sudan, and IPC-adjacent analyses in other contexts.
