Harper Dunne

Harper Dunne is an intern in the SIPRI Food, Peace and Security Programme, supporting research on the impact of drone warfare on food systems and the dynamics of cattle transhumance amid ongoing conflict in South Sudan. She recently completed an MSc in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding at Durham University, UK, where her dissertation examined the social and political-economical changes in the USA that contributed to widespread rights violations during recent immigration enforcement operations.

Previously, Dunne studied Global Health at undergraduate level in the USA, where she volunteered extensively with immigrants and refugees from Latin America. This work developed into a research partnership analysing a health and nutrition intervention for Latina immigrants, shaping her interest in the intersections of peace, conflict and migration. She brings this perspective together with her global health background focused on social determinants of health, including particularly the dynamics of food systems.
