Dr Bates Gill
Dr Bates Gill was Director of SIPRI between 2007 and 2012. Before joining SIPRI, Dr Gill directed the East Asia programme at the Center for Nonproliferation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies and worked as the Director of the Center for Northeast Asian Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution. Until 1997 he was Head of the SIPRI Project on Security and Arms Control in East Asia. In 2012 he was appointed CEO of the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.
