Developments in 2015

In January 2015, the UN arms embargo on non-governmental forces in the DRC was extended for one year and 6 months.

In February 2015, the EU arms embargo on Zimbabwe was extended for a one-year period.

In April 2015, the UN imposed an arms embargo on non-governmetal forces in Yemen.

In April 2015, the UN arms embargo on Côte d'Ivoire was extended for a one year period.

In April 2015, the EU arms embargo on Myanmar was extended for a one-year period.

In June 2015, the EU imposed an arms embargo on non-governmental forces in Yemen, implementing the UN arms embargo imposed in April 2015.

In June 2015, the EU arms embargo on Russia was extended until 31 January 2016.

In July 2015, the UNSC agreed on a resolution that would ease sanctions from the day it is confirmed that Iran has implemented certain restrictions to its nuclear programme. Changes in the arms embargo on Iran would then allow supplies of major arms to Iran provided that the Security Council would approve these transfers in advance and that all arms related sanctions would be lifted 5 to 8 years later.

In September 2015, the UN arms embargo on non-governmental forces in Liberia was extended until June 2016.

In October 2015 the EU arms embargo on Somalia was extended until November 2016.
