Chemical and biological weapons
The Arms Control and Non-proliferation Programme conducts research into issues of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and arms control, disarmament, proliferation and non-proliferation.
Current research issues within the Chemical and Biological Security Project:
- The role and responsibility of the Swedish biomedical research community in preventing acts of mass impact terrorism.
- Disease surveillance and response with a focus on Asia.
- Legal,
technical and historical aspects of the implementation of international
prohibitions against chemical warfare, including the
verification of non-production of chemical weapons within the chemical
industry and national defence research establishments, and the security
implications of dual-use research and technologies in the life
sciences.
