SIPRI announces Director for interim period

anthony130x100.jpgThe SIPRI Governing Board has appointed Dr Ian Anthony (United Kingdom) as SIPRI Director for an interim period as of 2 June 2014. Dr Anthony will also maintain his position as Director of SIPRI's European Security Programme.

Established in 2014, SIPRI’s European Security Programme analyses the European security discourse and seeks to deepen understanding of the ways in which it is changing. The programme places particular emphasis on the question of how to approach the management of transnational and non-traditional security problems.

Among Dr Anthony's numerous publications on issues related to arms control, disarmament and export control are Africa and the Global Market in Natural Uranium: From Proliferation Risk to Non-proliferation Opportunity, SIPRI Policy Paper no. 39 (2013, co-author), Reforming Nuclear Export Controls: The Future of the Nuclear Suppliers Group, SIPRI Research Report no. 22 (2007, co-author), and ‘Measures to combat nuclear terrorism’, SIPRI Yearbook 2013.
