Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the associated travel restrictions, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and SIPRI have taken the decision that the 2020 Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development scheduled for 11–13 May will not be held as planned at München Brewery.
On 20–21 February, SIPRI and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs co-hosted a thematic and regional consultation on the 2020 review of the United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture.
On 24 February, SIPRI and the Embassy of Sweden in Seoul jointly held a launch event for the report ‘The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Strategic Stability and Nuclear Risk—Volume II: East Asian Perspectives’.
SIPRI played an active role at the conference and hosted a roundtable discussion on the theme ‘Artificial Intelligence and Strategic Stability’, chaired by Dan Smith, SIPRI Director, and Dr Sibylle Bauer, Director of Studies, Armament and Disarmament.
As part of its engagement in peace and security matters in Africa, SIPRI, in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Kenya office and the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), convened a meeting of the Horn of Africa Climate Security Working Group in Addis Ababa.
