China's technological development and the implications for the rest of the world

Innovation and technology in China

China aspires to become a world leader in science, technology and innovation within the next 10-20 years. The country's leaders and scientific elite regard possessions of a state-of-the-art autonomous innovation capability as central in their endeavours to build a prosperous and powerful nation. The Study of Innovation and Technology in China (SITC) project at the University of California's Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation seeks to understand the approaches, challenges and prospects for success in China's quest for technological transformation. SIPRI contributes to this project by mapping conditions, impacts and kinds of high technology transfers from EU member states to China.
