seminar convened by the Stockholm China Alliance was held in Stockholm
on 13 October which discussed the current economic situation in China
and its challenges and opportunities. The seminar was introduced
by Mr Anders Ahnlid, Director General for Trade at the Swedish Ministry for
Foreign Affairs, and Professor Ari Kokko of the Stockholm School of
Economics. Professor Yao Yang and Professor Lu Feng, both from China’s
prestigious Peking University, addressed recent developments in China
and discussed policies and policy challenges that can be expected in

Talk about new foreign policy actors in China by Programme Director Linda Jakobson at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington D.C. Comments were made by Erica S. Downs, Fellow at John L. Thornton China Center of Brookings Instituion, who discussed on the role of Chinese energy companies in foreign policy, and David Finkelstein, Vice President of the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) and Director of CNA China Studies, who discussed the changing role and impact of the People’s Liberation Army on Chinese foreign policy. CSIS Senior Fellow at the Freeman Chair in China Studies Bonnie S. Glaser moderated the talk. Over 130 people participated in the event. (8 October 2010, Washington D.C.).
