Country case studies

Through the Africa Security and Governance (ASG) project, SIPRI is working with six African civil society organizations (CSOs) to enhance their capacity for conducting quality research on security-related issues. A cornerstone of this process is the country case study, in which each partner CSO undertakes field research in its home country on a security-related topic relevant to its advocacy work. The CSO researchers receive support from SIPRI researchers and library and editorial departments as well as from African and Africanist experts on security issues linked to the project. The interactive research process allows for collaborative learning and the exchange of knowledge between CSO and SIPRI researchers.

Country seminars

A key component of the ASG project is the dissemination of the country case study reports. For this purpose, and with the support of the ASG project, each partner CSO organizes a seminar, in its respective country, to publicly launch its case study report. The seminar is a forum for CSO researchers to share their findings and offer policy recommendations. It also provides a platform for outreach to policy makers, other stakeholders and broader civil society. The primary aim of the seminars is to engage policy makers and mobilize civil society on the issues covered by the case study.
