Daniel Nord joined SIPRI as Deputy Director in 2005. He previously worked in the Secretariat for the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission (WMDC), an international commission headed by Dr Hans Blix, which was tasked to provide a comprehensive analysis of threats from WMD as well as concrete proposals on what can be done to reduce these threats. Daniel Nord has also worked at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs on disarmament and non-proliferation issues, at the Swedish National Defence College as a lecturer in international law and human rights and as a Legal Adviser with the Swedish Red Cross. Daniel Nord has a Master of Laws from Uppsala University.
