COMTRADE data

A number of countries report exports and imports of 'Weapons and Ammunition' to the Comtrade Database of the UN Statistics Division. However, these figures are only of limited use since some of the major arms exporters do not report, and the definition of 'Weapons and Ammunition' used does not cover warships, combat aircraft and military electronics (see SIPRI Yearbook 1998, p. 307).

NISAT Database

The Database of Authorised Transfers of Small Arms and Light Weapons is maintained by the Norwegian Initiative on Small Arms Transfers (NISAT). The database draws on information collected by national customs authorities.
