1st Russian company in the top 20
Almaz-Antei, producer of the S-300 and S-400 series of air defence systems, entered the top 20 largest arms producers in 2008 with $4.3 billion in arms sales.
- The company’s arms sales have tripled since 2003, when it posted arms sales of $960 million.
- Exports accounted for 54 per cent of the company’s arms sales in 2008, down from 56 per cent in 2007.
- Together, the company’s increase in arms sales and the slight decrease in its per cent of exports illustrate the rising importance of the Russian Government’s domestic arms procurement.
