SIPRI experts present at non-proliferation conference

On 4–5 September the European Union Non-Proliferation Consortium (EUNPC) organized the third EU Non-proliferation and Disarmament Conference in Brussels.

The EUNPC is a network of foreign policy institutions and research centres from across the EU engaged in political and security-related dialogue and discussion of measures to combat the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems.

It is managed jointly by SIPRI, the Fondation pour la recherche stratégique in Paris, the Peace Research Institute in Frankfurt (HSFK/ PRIF) and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London.

The conference convened over 250 experts from 57 countries. SIPRI Director Dr Ian Anthony chaired a session on humanitarian arms control, and SIPRI Programme Directors Dr Sibylle Bauer and Mr Mark Bromley chaired sessions on export controls and regulating small arms, respectively. Tariq Rauf, Director of the SIPRI Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-proliferation Programme, spoke during the plenary session on the 2015 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference.
