2014 Stockholm Forum on Security and Development
Building on its long-standing reputation in the field of international security, SIPRI is currently broadening its research focus to include issues of security and development, examining the links between socioeconomic development, conflict, peace and security. In 2014, as part of these ongoing research activities, SIPRI will host a high-level global event - the Stockholm Forum on Security and Development - together with the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation, Hillevi Engström.
The theme of the Forum is ‘Freedom from Violence’. This one-day conference will examine various links between violence and poverty, conflict and development.
The Forum will leverage international state-of-the-art research and policy findings from think tanks and academics in Sweden and abroad, and will showcase research and policy advice produced by this community at the intersection between security, peace and socioeconomic development. The conference sessions will draw on Scandinavian traditions of discussion, interaction, and collaborative knowledge creation.
The Forum will be held on 28 March 2014 at Myntkabinettet (the Swedish National Museum of Economy, Slottsbacken 6, http://www.myntkabinettet.se), with additional side events on surrounding days.
