14–15 June 2013: SIPRI to host conference on economics and security

SIPRI is pleased to announce that the 17th Annual International Conference on Economics and Security will be held at SIPRI in Stockholm, Sweden, on 14–15 June 2013. The conference is co-organized by SIPRI with Economists for Peace and Security.


Key conference and related activities

  • Thursday 13th June: pre-conference lecture by SIPRI Director, Professor Dr. Tilman Brück, 18:30, Stockholm University Geovetenskapens Hus. Followed by reception. Free, open to the public.
  • Friday 14th - 15th June: 17th Annual International Conference on Economics and Security, SIPRI, 09:00 - 18:00. Keynote speakers: Friday 09:45: Professor Dr. Ron Smith, Professor of Economics, Birkbeck College, London: "The economic cost of military conflicts".
  • Saturday 15th June, 19:30: Conference dinner at a restaurant in central Stockholm (optional)
  • Sunday 16th June, 09:30: Day-trip to ancient Viking settlement of Birka (optional).
