Research Interests

European security cooperation, including the ESDP and NATO, with focus on France, Germany and the UK, Nordic security policy, transatlantic relations and the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). Many projects have been and are pursued within the framework of the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA), such as the FORNET, the EUCON and the ongoing EU-CONSENT (see below). “Ett nytt och större EU” [A New and Wider EU] was a major information project financed by the European Commission.


Major Current Projects

  • EU-CONSENT, Constructing Europe, Wider Europe – Deeper Integration? Member of Steering Group, responsible for Dissemination (Work Package XII) and (together with Professor Lenka Rovna, Charles University, Prague) responsible for Evaluation (Work Package XIV). The project is financed by the European Commission under Framework 6, 1 June 2005 – 1 June 2009.
  • The Dynamics of Change in the Arab World, Globalization and the Re-Structuring of State Power, Coordinator, Cooperation project between Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (SIIA). Financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and Compagnia di San Paolo, 1 October 2005 – 1 April 2008.
