The purpose of these projects is to monitor, describe and analyse trends and developments in military expenditure and arms production worldwide. For this purpose the projects maintains two databases with global coverage: one on military expenditure and one on arms-producing companies. Overviews of recent trends are presented annually in the SIPRI Yearbook chapters on military expenditure and arms production.
