2008-05-19 The SIPRI library's new catalogue SIPCAT will be launched on June 4. A little later than anticipated, but the implementation of a new system is always time consuming. With SIPCAT three previously separate databases will be merged into one as the "Journal holdings" and the "Articles reference database" will become part of the main catalogue. During a transitional period the new catalogue will however only contain article references entered from May 2008 and later. Older article references will be searcheable in the old database until the export of data to the the system has been completed.

2008-05-06 If all goes as planned, the new library catalogue SIPCAT will made public in the second half of May. With this new system registered users can make reservations online and also submit suggestions for new literature. You will also be able to see if an item is available, or if not available, when it will be. More information on new features of SIPCAT will be posted shortly.

2008-03-27 As of March 31 the current library catalogue will not be updated with new acquisitions. It will however still function as the official library catalogue. New records will instead be entered into the new Koha catalogue, which will be made public sometime in May 2008. In the meantime the library staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding new acquisitions. Email to the library: library@sipri.org

SIPRI Library is in the process of changing library systems, from the previous one based on Filemaker, to Koha. Koha is a full-featured, open source ILS initially developed in New Zealand and maintained today by advanced users all over the world. We are currently preparing the export of the Library catalogue and Articles reference database and hope to be able to launch the new library system by latest during the summer of 2008.

More information will be posted on this web site in the coming weeks.
