A complete list of all fields displayed in the complete records of the SIPRI library catalogue with a short explanatory note.


Title:
Main title, chapter title and subtitles.

Author/editor(s):
Author(s), chapter author and editor(s)in reverse order: "Rotblat, Joseph".

Publication place:
Place of publication and commerical publisher, if any.

Publication year:
Year of publication and information on new editions.

ISBN:
International Standard Book Number. A a unique thirteen digit number assigned to every printed book published today. Publications published before 2007 have a ten digit number.

ISSN:
International Standard Serial Number. A unique eight digit number used for identifying serial publications, such as journals, newspapers, annuals and monographic series.

Pages:
Page information. "1 website" indicates that the catalogued item is an online publication.

Corporate source:
Issuing institution or organisation.

Series:
Series title: Working papers, Occasional papers etc.

Misc:
Additional data on the occurrence of tables, appendices, bibliographies etc.

Keyword:
All approved keywords out of the SIPRI library thesaurus as well as non-approved keywords. A link to the thesaurus is provided in the search form.

Acquisition number:
An internal system for identification of each unique item entered into the catalogue.

Language:
Contains the three first letters from the language (in its English form) in which the item has been catalogued e.g. German = ger, French= fre, Spanish= spa etc.

Location:
Based on a modified Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) system plus shelf title, which consists of either the title or the author.

Cross ref:
Cross reference field. A notes field containing information on translations, order information, date of down-load of electronical resources etc.

URL:
If the described item is available electronically on the Internet a link is proved either to the document or the issuing institute's publication page.
