Databases

During an extensive literature review while developing the SIPRI Early Warning Indicators System for Preventive Policy, two databases have been created. Although the databases are a work in progress and were designed for mainly internal use, we feel it's publication is of general interest even in it's present form.
The SIPRI database of Early Warning Indicators is a compilation of potential early warning indicators from a variety of sources measuring among others risks for destabilization and conflict. They were collected by Mikael Weissmann in the process of an intensive research into the questions of Early Warning and Risk Assessment. The database comprises of more then 1200 individual indicators from a wide range of different sources. The indicators have been included on a non-selective basis and the source of each particular indicator is made explicit in the database. The inclusion of a specific indicator does however not imply a SIPRI endorsement of any specific indicator. The SIPRI database of Indicators for Country and Political Risk includes indicators as used by commercial country and political risk services/organisations. Also this database has been developed by Mikael Weissmann. |
