2003: Evian, France
At their summit at Evian on 3 June 2003, the G8 Heads of State and Government adopted a Declaration on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and a Statement on the Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction: Securing Radioactive Sources endorsed an Action Plan on the prevention of radiological terrorism and the securing of radioactive sources.
The G8 commitment to prevent terrorists, or those that harbour them, from acquiring weapons of mass destruction was reaffirmed and the implementation of the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction was reviewed. The G8 agreed to sustain and broaden their efforts towards:
- - reaching the Kananaskis commitment of raising up to US$20 billion over 10 years;
- - developing and initiating concrete and worthwhile projects;
- - fully implementing the guidelines on new and expanded cooperation projects agreed in 2002;
- - opening this initiative to new countries.

The G8 endorsed an Action Plan on the Global Partnership and published the first Annual Report made by the Senior Officials Group responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Global Partnership.
