1991: London, United Kingdom

In August 1990 Kuwait was invaded by Iraq. In January and February 1991, acting under the auspices of United Nations Security Council resolutions, an international coalition of states took military action to liberate Kuwait.

At their meeting in London between 15–17 July 1991 the G7 leaders had their first opportunity to discuss the implications of the 1991 Gulf War. On 16 July 1991 the leaders agreed a Declaration on Conventional Arms Transfers and NBC Non-Proliferation.
