Transfer of Chemicals under the CWC: Fact Sheet 2

I. Thresholds on declarations
Schedule 1
>1 tonne aggregate amount
Schedule 2
> 1 kg (for BZ) or > 100 kg for chemicals from Schedule 2, part A
> 1 tonne for chemicals from Schedule 2, part B
Schedule 3
> 30 tonnes
II. Transfer limitations
Schedule 1

III. Information on transfer
Schedule 1
for transfer to States Parties, information on:
- the chemical name, structural formula and Chemical Abstract Service registry number
- the quantity acquired from other states or transferred to other states
- for each transfer the quantity, recipient and purpose shall be included
Schedule 2
for transfer to States Parties:
- the total amount exported in the previous calendar year, including the specification of the states involved
- the total amount anticipated to be exported in the following calendar year, including the specification of the states involved
for transfer to non-States Parties during first three years,end-use certificate is required which shall include statement:
(a) by the recipient state that the chemical will only be used for purposes not prohibited
(b) that the chemical will not be retransferred
(c) of types and quantities of the chemical
(d) of end use(s)
(e) of the name(s) and address(es) of the end-user(s)
Schedule 3
for transfer to States Parties the aggregate national data for exportof each chemical, including the specification of the states involved
for transfer to non-States Parties during first three years, an end-usecertificate is required which shall include statement:
(a) by the recipient state that the chemical will only be used for purposes not prohibited
(b) that the chemical will not be retransferred
(c) of types and quantities of the chemical
(d) of end use(s)
(e) of the name(s) and address(es) of the end-user(s)
