Internships with the Arms Transfers Project
An internship in the SIPRI Arms Transfers Project
An internship in the SIPRI Arms Transfers Project provides university students with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of all aspects of international arms transfers and to learn about peace research in general. The interns are asked to carry out a range of tasks, including: collecting and archiving data on arms transfers from open sources; writing briefing notes on arms transfer issues; and assisting Arms Transfers Project researchers in preparing publications, presentations and responses to information requests. There will also be opportunities for interns to carry out their own research in SIPRIs stimulating research environment.
The required background is BA or MA equivalent university studies in peace research, international relations, economics, political science, history or a related discipline. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a keen interest in issues related to the proliferation of major conventional weapons, small arms, and other military technologies. Experience of collecting and archiving data from a range of sources is regarded as advantageous.
