The Arms Transfers Project


The main task of the SIPRI Arms Transfers Project is maintaining The Arms Transfers Database, which contains information on all international transfers of major conventional weapons since 1950. The Project also:

Arms Transfers Database

Generate written and statistical reports on international transfers of major conventional weapons since 1950.

Enter

  • collects data on the financial value of the arms trade;
  • contributes a chapter to the annual SIPRI Yearbook;
  • produces reports on international arms transfers; and
  • collects information on international arms embargoes.

  • 13 May 2008 - New SIPRI Policy Paper from the SIPRI Arms Transfers Project: 'The Impact on Domestic Policy of the EU Code of Conduct on Arms Exports: The Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Spain' - More.
  • 31 March 2008 - The SIPRI Arms Transfers Database has been updated and now includes all information on transfers of major conventional weapons from 1950 to the end of 2007 - More.

Arms embargoes

Details of all UN, EU, and other multilateral arms embargoes in force since 1998. Links are provided to the documents establishing the embargo along with other relevant background information. More.

Financial value of the arms trade

Information on the financial value of the gobal arms trade along with the value of individual countries' arms exports. Data are based on official government and industry sources. More.
