Athanassia Fourla joined SIPRI in May 2010. As Grants Manager she is responsible for organizing financial reporting to SIPRI's grant givers and exploring new fundraising opportunities. Before coming to SIPRI, Athanassia worked in Sweden at the International Foundation for Science and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology on projects dealing with developmental cooperation and scientific research and development. In Greece she headed the Liaison Department at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing, developed language technology products and coordinated major scientific EU projects. In Ethiopia, she taught Machine Translation in the Masters course of the Addis Ababa University Faculty of Computer Science and supervised a Masters thesis.
